The R factor...

This is regarding a letter from Dr. Balakrishna Varma, a psychiatrist on his take on reality show.. Click here to read the letter.

Lot of people are saying that the judges are being too harsh on the children and torturing them mentally... but I feel they are fair enough. I am talking about the panel of judges in Malayalam reality shows. In fact sometimes I feel they just show a blind eye to most of the mistakes saying it could affect the votes dedicated to a particular contestant by his/her fan. The children’s' episode is pretty fun to watch and I feel that they shouldn't join if they are not able to take in the pressure. Crying at the elimination stage is fair enough... Everyone does have feelings and at some point do feel that competition has something more than just the participation factor. When I used to enrol for competitions, I was always brainwashed that I am participating to remove my stage fear and not to win a trophy. But knowingly we go there expecting a prize for sure and when we don't win it is a disappointment. But what is funny is some of the reality show contestants are pretty strong enough when they are eliminated and stand there with a bright positive smile just when the comperer does her job and then the river begins to overflow. Elimination episodes have TRP more than any other episodes because we Indians love emotional drama.

The major negative I felt is about this 'family round' where the singer has to perform with all his family members on stage... more like a republic day parade! More than the judges I feel parents are the ones who pressurize their children at home if they scored less marks or wotever. Overall after analyzing the pros and cons I feel they affect in a more positive way and for those who are actually looking for a platform to showcase their versatility...do go for it !!!.. (Though I wouldn't personally go for it)

hmmm...yeah...i think Dr. Balakrishna Varma is right. Torturing small children to improve their music..is not acceptable. In hindi reality shows, we can see this torturing in double effect. We all know..they do this to improve their music, and more than that adding masalas to the show..some people learn from their mistakes through this torturing, some will have negative effect on this. I think its a kinda encouragement to the contestants, but dnt think the same thing can be done to small children..

I remember,Mithu Manoj, who was a contestant in AMRITHA SUPERSTAR, who is a close friend of mine, once told me the bitter experience she had in that show (backstage). After the recording and all, judges scolded her for the dress she wore which was a frock. I saw that episode, but i didnt find any problem in that dress,it was a descent dressing,it suits the song too.. She was very sad at that time, which ws a mental shock for her. I dont think these kinda torturing is expected from these judges in a music programme and that too i back stage. Its a music oriented programme, not a fashion show...

(DIVERTING FROM THE SUBJECT)

You people might have seen the reality show SUPER DANCER JUNIOUR(first one). The day of grand finale, money was flowing to everyones mobile, even to my mobile (thanks to my cousin).. You know how ?.....the parents of these final contestants were throwing money to the public to recharge their mobile to vote for their child. You wont believe my balance was Rs. 10/- or something a day before....that day my balance turned to more than Rs. 2000 or Rs.3000..How i got? ..My cousin was roaming around the stage of the grand finale...Some of the agents of the contestant's parents was recharging peoples mobile with a request to vote for her only. Can you imagine, how much money these parents would have wasted to get their children at the top...ufff.!!!!

These kinda reality shows are stupid..eventhough i enjoyed the benefits :P ....it wont do much to the field of art...

haha.. just like how the Jai Ho concert was for me :D.. game of life it seems !! IPL is soooo boring this time...

VIKAS PLAKKOT said...

Why boring? Its much more exciting to watch on TV than last time. Better contest between the bat and ball rather than bloodshed batting !!

Twists and turns in last overs aplenty! Teams losing from states of 6 to win from 9 balls.. People like Yuvraj getting hat-tricks.. The Kolkata Saga.. Very close fght between all teams.. Awesome IPL !!!
